Top Athletes Set to Compete in Florida’s Best of the Beach Tournament

Florida’s Best of the Beach Tournament is set to showcase top U.S. beach volleyball players and Olympians from November 6th to 8th, 2020. Organized by the Florida Region of USA Volleyball, with support from Lake County, Florida and Molten USA, this event will take place at Hickory Point Beach in Tavares, Florida.

Among the registered participants are renowned Olympians such as Phil Dalhausser, Jake Gibb, David Lee, Paul Lotman, Ricardo Santos, and Chaim Schalk. This tournament will adopt a king/queen of the beach format, with up to 28 athletes in each gender category. The top 12 athletes will advance directly to the main draw, while the remaining 16 will participate in a qualifier. The final field will be announced on September 18th.

Within their respective pools, each athlete will compete against every other participant. The athlete with the best record in each pool will progress to the next day of the tournament.

On Friday, the top four athletes from the qualifier will advance to the main draw for Saturday’s matches. After Saturday, pool winners will choose a partner from the 2nd to 4th place teams in all pools to compete with them on Sunday.

A total of $50,000 in prize money ($25,000 per gender) will be up for grabs, with payouts going down to 16th place. The event will also feature amenities such as private showers and locker rooms, an air-conditioned athlete VIP area, live streaming of four competition courts, and paid officials for all matches.
