Videos and Principles Worth Many Thousands of Words

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then videos surely have the power to convey even more. As someone who is passionate about sharing ideas and insights, I have found that using videos and images can be incredibly effective in capturing the essence of a message. With the holiday season upon us, it feels like the perfect time to share some of my favorite videos that can help us all grow and improve together.

The Power of Visuals in Presentations

Last week, I had the opportunity to speak at the USA Shooting National Coaching Conference, held at the Olympic Training Center. During my presentation on coaching principles, I incorporated both shooting and volleyball images into my PowerPoint. It was truly gratifying to receive positive feedback from the CEO of USA Shooting, who described my presentation as the best and most relevant of the entire conference. This just goes to show that principles can be applied across different disciplines, even ones as diverse as shooting and volleyball.

A Memorable Adventure

On another note, I recently had an adventure-filled trip to Arizona, which turned out to be quite eventful. Although the journey started with rain and low temperatures in Phoenix, the real excitement came when my car broke down in a blizzard just outside Denver International Airport. It was a chilly wait for a tow truck, but fortunately, the driver was kind enough to take us to the airport. Despite the unexpected detour, I eventually made it to the CAP course in Colorado Springs. I must express my gratitude to the dedicated individuals who run and lead the region, as well as the CAP cadre, for their exemplary work.

A Thoughtful Gift and a Powerful Quote

During my time at the CAP course, I posed a thought-provoking question to the coaches: “Can you easily find your program’s Mission Statement?” This question sparked a flurry of activity, as the coaches realized the importance of having a clear purpose and guiding philosophy. It is crucial to know your club’s mission statement in order to make informed decisions throughout the season. In this context, I would like to share a quote by Thomas Jefferson that perfectly encapsulates the idea of sharing knowledge and inspiring others: “He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine, as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening mine.”
