Rachel’s role as a coach and assistant in the athletic department at Casady School, where boys volleyball is offered, provides valuable support for this initiative.
Rachel explains, “I work with these middle school boys volleyball players every day during the fall season, and it definitely gets them hooked early. Several of them have played club volleyball with us this year. The same goes for high school. Many of the kids we get have grown up playing multiple sports but start volleyball relatively late. However, during the school season, they experience exponential growth, which is incredibly exciting for them. Many of these players want to continue developing their skills and further their experience, which leads them to join a club. If more schools can involve kids at a younger age, as we have been striving to do, I believe club participation would skyrocket.”
The growing interest in boys volleyball typically results in an increase in the size and number of boys clubs. Rachel points out that similar school-based club leagues in the Dallas and Kansas City areas preceded significant growth in boys clubs.
