Women’s National Team to Take on NORCECA Continental Championship Field

Fourteen athletes from the USA Volleyball team will be representing the country at the upcoming 2021 Women’s NORCECA Continental Championship in Guadalajara, Mexico. This highly anticipated event will take place from August 26th to August 31st.

Introducing the Team

The team consists of talented athletes in various positions:

  • Outside Hitters: Kara Bajema, Ali Frantti, Micaya White, Lindsay Stalzer
  • Middle Blockers: Ali Bastianelli, Cori Crocker, Madeleine Gates, Rachael Kramer
  • Opposites: Danielle Cuttino, Roni Jones-Perry
  • Setters: Ashley Evans, Jenna Gray
  • Liberos: Tiffany Clark, Kendall White

An Exciting Opportunity

Head Coach Joe Trinsey expressed his excitement about the opportunity for these athletes to represent the USA. For many of them, it will be their first time wearing a USA jersey at this level. They are eager to showcase their skills and make the country proud, especially after the outstanding performance in the recent Olympics.

Previous Experience

Three of the athletes have previously played for the U.S. Women’s National Team. Danielle Cuttino, who will captain the U.S. team in Guadalajara, has already won gold at the 2019 Pan American Cup and represented the U.S. at the 2019 Pan American Games. Ashley Evans and Roni Jones-Perry were part of the squad that won the 2019 NORCECA Champions Cup.

Experience and Achievements

Aside from their national team experience, Cuttino, Tiffany Clark, and Rachael Kramer have also been part of the U.S. Women’s Junior National Team. Cuttino competed in the 2014 NORCECA Women’s U20 Continental Championship, while Clark and Kramer won gold at the 2017 Pan American Cup. In additional accomplishments, Clark, Cori Crocker, Lindsay Stalzer, and Ali Bastianelli have all competed in the United States with Athletes Unlimited.

Coaching Staff

Head Coach Joe Trinsey, who previously served as the national team’s technical coordinator from 2012 to 2016, will be leading the team. He will be assisted by Michelle Chatman and Cullen Irons.

Tournament Details

The United States will be competing in Group A alongside Puerto Rico and Canada. Group B consists of the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Trinidad & Tobago. The pool play will run from August 26th to August 28th, followed by the knockout stage from August 29th to August 31st.

Impressive Track Record

The U.S. Women’s National Team holds a confederation-leading 23 medals at the Continental Championship, with eight gold medals to their name.
