U.S. Women’s Junior National Team Demonstrates Outstanding Serving in NORCECA U20 Victory

The U.S. Women’s Junior National Team kicked off their defense of the NORCECA U20 Continental Championship title with an impressive display of dynamic serving against French St. Martin. The match, held at NOVA Southeastern University, resulted in a dominant 25-2, 25-4, 25-5 victory for the U.S.

Led by standout players Lexi Sun and Taryn Knuth, who both scored 10 points, the U.S. showcased their serving prowess with exceptional performances from Stephanie Samedy and Thayer Hall. Samedy, in particular, had an exceptional run, crediting her consistency to the guidance of assistant coach Genny Volpe.

The NORCECA U20 Continental Championship, hosted by the U.S. for the first time, features eight teams, including Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Haiti, French St. Martin, Cuba, and the United States. The U.S. Women’s Junior National Team, having won the championship in 2014, received automatic qualification for the 2015 FIVB World Championship.

The U.S. dominated the match with their strong service game, recording an impressive 16 aces while not allowing any from their opponents. In both sets 1 and 2, Samedy and Hall displayed their skills with extended service runs, frustrating the French St. Martin team’s serve receive.
