The FIVB World Grand Prix Schedule

The FIVB World Grand Prix will feature 12 teams in Group 1, each playing three preliminary round weekends in different cities. The top five teams, along with Thailand, will advance to the Final Round, set to take place from July 6-10 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Team USA on Home Soil

The U.S. Women’s National Team will host one of the preliminary rounds from June 17-19 at the Walter Pyramid on the campus of Long Beach State University. This will be the last opportunity for fans to watch the team play on home soil before the Olympic Games.

Before their home weekend in Long Beach, Team USA will travel to Ningbo, China, where they will face Germany, Thailand, and host country China. They will then conclude the preliminary round in Hong Kong, taking on Germany once again, as well as Netherlands and China.

Dynamic Roster Selections

The U.S. coaching staff has the flexibility to change the competition roster of 14 players for each preliminary round weekend and the Final Round in Bangkok, provided that the team qualifies as one of the top five in the preliminary round standings.

Success on the Grand Prix Stage

Team USA has an impressive track record in the FIVB World Grand Prix, having won the tournament six times. They have secured victory in four of the last six events, including their triumph last year in Omaha, Nebraska, where they hosted the competition for the first time on U.S. soil. The team’s recent dominance extends to their performances in other tournaments as well, winning six out of their last seven competitions, including the 2014 FIVB World Championship.

Additional Athlete Updates

In addition to the 22-player preliminary roster, several other U.S. Women’s National Team athletes are training or rehabbing in Anaheim, the host city for both the women’s and men’s national teams. These athletes include outside hitter Michelle Bartsch, middle blocker Tori Dixon, and libero Tama Miyashiro.

Looking Ahead

Team USA will also compete in the Pan American Cup, set to be held in the Dominican Republic from June 30 to July 11. As this event overlaps with the World Grand Prix, University of Pittsburgh Head Coach Dan Fisher has been appointed to lead the Pan American Cup squad.
