USA National Beach Tour: The Officially Sanctioned Tour by USA Volleyball and its 40 Regions

Colorado Springs, Colo. – November 27, 2017 – USA Volleyball and its 40 Regional Volleyball Associations (RVAs) are thrilled to announce the launch of the USA National Beach Tour in 2018. This tour will serve as the officially sanctioned beach tour of USA Volleyball and its RVAs, offering exciting participation opportunities for both juniors and adults.

A Unified Tour for All

The USA National Beach Tour is a merger of the USA Junior Beach Tour, managed by USA Volleyball, and the American Beach Tour, organized by the RVAs. By combining these two tours, the USA National Beach Tour aims to provide a unified and inclusive experience for players of all ages and skill levels.

Nationally Staged Events

With more than 200 events across the country, the USA National Beach Tour will provide ample opportunities for players to showcase their talents. The tour will culminate in the Beach Regional Qualifiers and Beach National Qualifiers, where participants can earn bids to the prestigious USA Beach National Championships.

A Collaborative Effort

Mark Paaluhi, USA Volleyball Manager of Beach Events, expresses his excitement for working with the 40 RVAs to bring the USA National Beach Tour to life and enhance the national championship events. Donna Donaghy, USA Volleyball Board of Director and commissioner of the Northern California Volleyball Association, praises the tour as a collaborative effort to foster top-notch beach competition opportunities for players at all levels.

Junior and Adult Divisions

The Junior Beach National Championships (JBNC), scheduled for July, will feature three divisions for both genders: National Open (bid), Regional Open (bid), and Patriot (non-bid). On the other hand, the anticipated Adult Beach National Championships (ABNC) in September will have divisions for men, women, and coed, with six different skill levels: Open, AAA, AA, A, BB, and B.

Elite Development Opportunities

Moreover, USA Volleyball’s Beach High Performance program plans to conduct Selection Camps before select Beach National Qualifiers. This not only gives junior athletes the chance to compete and qualify for the USA Beach National Championships but also offers a pathway towards representing Team USA in age-group FIVB Beach World Championships and other international competitions. Megan Burgdorf, USA Volleyball Manager of Beach High Performance, emphasizes the value of this combined programming, providing players with a cost-effective way to be identified for national programming and to gain exposure to high-level training and elite competition.
