Commitment to SafeSport

Expanding International Competitions

USA Volleyball is expanding its domestic national team schedule with new international competitions. This includes the 2019 NORCECA World Cup Men’s and Women’s Qualifier and their commitment as a permanent member in the new FIVB Volleyball Nations League, which features the top 16 nations in the world.

Focus on Treatment of Officials

The Board held a major discussion regarding the treatment of officials at USAV-sanctioned events. They are concerned about incidents of unsportsmanlike conduct towards certified officials and junior players performing officiating duties. Measures will be taken to address this issue and ensure a positive experience for all participants.

Enhancing Coaching Accreditation Programs

Dr. Cecile Reynaud, the coaching representative to the Board, is leading a task force to enhance the Coaching Accreditation Programs offered by USA Volleyball. The goal is to collaborate with the Regional Volleyball Associations and develop additional curriculum components and skill development concepts to improve coaching education.

Governance Review

The Board has been conducting a governance review since October 2016. They are evaluating the selection process for positions, the work of the Nominating Committee, and the composition of constituent groups and assemblies. The focus is on diversity and inclusion, as well as conflict of interest policies.
