Karch Kiraly: A Successful Journey

Karch Kiraly took on the role of Women’s National Team head coach in September 2012, following his tenure as assistant coach from 2009-2012. During his leadership, the U.S. Women achieved remarkable milestones, including winning their first-ever Olympic gold medal in Tokyo. John Speraw: Shaping the Men’s National Team

John Speraw assumed the role of Men’s National Team head coach in early 2013, after serving as an assistant since 2007. The U.S. Men’s team has achieved significant success under Speraw’s leadership, winning bronze medals at the Rio Olympic Games, the 2018 and 2019 VNL tournaments, as well as the 2018 FIVB World Championship and the 2019 World Cup.

Prior to the Rio Olympic Games, Speraw guided the U.S. Men to victories at the 2014 FIVB World League and the 2015 World Cup. He values the opportunity to work closely with the athletes and build strong relationships within the team. Reflecting on the Tokyo Olympic Games, where the team fell short of their expectations, Speraw is determined to rectify their performance and give it another shot in future competitions.

USA Volleyball’s Confidence in Kiraly and Speraw

USA Volleyball President and CEO, Jamie Davis, expressed his confidence in both Kiraly and Speraw as they lead the national teams into the Paris quad. Davis recognized the immense momentum of the U.S. Women’s team after their historic gold medal win and believes that under Kiraly’s leadership, they will be strong contenders in 2024. He also acknowledged the challenges faced by the U.S. Men’s team in 2021 but praised Speraw for consistently leading the team in the years leading up to the recent events. Davis firmly believes that Speraw possesses the necessary qualities to guide the men’s team towards medal contention in the upcoming years.
