American beach volleyball athletes are gearing up for the fifth tournament of the FIVB World Tour season. As the amateur volleyball scene in the United States approaches championship seasons with USAV and the NCAA, there are exciting events on the horizon.

JBT Championships in Siesta Key
The 2017 Junior Beach Tour Championships will take place in the Florida Region in Siesta Key. This tournament, held from July 20-25, is open to both JBT bid winners and non-bid winners. The NCAA postseason is also just a few weeks away, with the NCAA Championships happening in Gulf Shores, Ala., from May 5-7, followed by the USAV Collegiate Beach Championships in Hermosa Beach, Calif., from May 11-13.

Langkawi, Malaysia: FIVB One-Star Tournament
The U.S. beach volleyball teams will be competing in Langkawi, Malaysia, for the FIVB one-star tournament on April 15-16. David McKienzie and Andrew Dentler have earned a main draw wild card, while Adam Roberts/Marty Lorenz and Mark Burik/Bill Kolinske are on the reserve list for the men’s teams. On the women’s side, Kimberly DiCello and Emily Stockman have secured the No. 1 seed in the main draw bracket. Jace Pardon/Aurora Davis are listed as reserves and are hoping to make their first FIVB appearance.
2017 Junior Beach Tour Championships
The USA Volleyball Junior Beach Tour Championships are set to take place in Siesta Key, Florida, from July 20-25. This event offers championship titles to boys and girls in age groups 12 and under, 14U, 16U, and 18U. The tournament has two divisions: Open and Club. The Club division is open to participants who have not earned a bid on the Junior Beach Tour.

The AVCA Coaches poll has seen minimal changes in the top 5 schools from last week’s rankings. TCU is the only team to make a significant jump, entering the poll at 13th place after some impressive wins against ranked opponents. With only two weeks left in the regular season, all eyes are on the NCAA Championships, which will be held from May 5-7.

USA Volleyball Collegiate Beach Championships
USA Volleyball’s Collegiate Beach Championships are scheduled to take place in Hermosa Beach, California, from May 11-13. This exciting event will feature 24 women’s pairs and eight men’s pairs competing for a spot on a USA Volleyball collegiate beach national team. The women’s final will be aired live on May 13 on NBCSN from 6-7:30 p.m. ET, followed by the taped delayed men’s final.
Mike Whitmarsh Beach Volleyball 4-Man Tournament
On June 3, the 3rd Annual Mike Whitmarsh Beach Volleyball 4-Man Tournament will be held at North Dog Beach in Del Mar, California. This event, which celebrates the life and legacy of Olympian Mike Whitmarsh, starts at 9 a.m. PT. Partial proceeds from the tournament will go to Starlings Volleyball Clubs, USA.

In NORCECA La Paz, Betsi Flint/Kelley Larsen won bronze, marking their fifth NORCECA medal as individuals and as a team. Jon Mesko/Skylar Del Sol placed fourth, their first international event since 2012. Brittany Hochevar/Emily Day placed sixth, and Stafford Slick/Reid Priddy finished ninth in Priddy’s first international beach event.
