Alpinetgheep.com is thrilled to share the latest news from the Pro Beach Tour Elite 16 event in Montreal, Canada. Our teams, Betsi Flint/Julia Scoles and Andy Benesh/Miles Partain, put up a remarkable fight and secured silver medals in their respective finals. Women’s Final: A Close Battle

In an exhilarating women’s final, fourth-seeded Canadians Melissa Humana-Paredes/Brandie Wilkerson narrowly defeated Flint/Scoles in a thrilling 2-1 match (21-15, 16-21, 15-13). Despite the loss, Flint/Scoles displayed exceptional teamwork and resilience throughout the tournament. This impressive performance marked their second Beach Pro Tour podium finish as a team, following their silver medal win at the Torquay Elite16 in December.

Men’s Final: A Tough Challenge

In the men’s final, second-seeded Benesh/Partain faced a formidable opponent in top-seeded Anders Mol/Chrisian Sorum of Norway. The intense match ended with a 2-1 victory for Mol/Sorum (21-17, 15-21, 15-10). Benesh/Partain showcased their skills and tenacity on the court, adding another podium finish to their already impressive streak in the Elite16 series.

Flint/Scoles and Benesh/Partain delivered exceptional performances throughout the tournament. With their silver medal performance in Montreal, Flint/Scoles have climbed up to ninth overall and currently hold the fourth spot among U.S. teams in the FIVB women’s beach rankings. Notably, Hughes/Cheng maintain their position as the second-ranked team overall and the first among U.S. teams. Additionally, Kloth/Nuss remain in the top three overall and second among U.S. teams. Cannon/Sponcil also continue to impress, sitting at seventh overall and third among U.S. teams.

Olympic Qualification Race

The race for Olympic qualification is heating up, and our teams are making their mark. Hughes/Cheng currently lead the pack among U.S. teams and hold the third spot overall, closely followed by Nuss/Kloth in fourth place. Scoles/Flint are also in contention, ranked sixth overall and third among U.S. teams, while Cannon/Sponcil occupy the 11th spot overall and fourth among U.S. teams. It’s crucial for the top two U.S. teams to maintain their rankings in the top 15 to secure their spot in Paris 2024.
