Beach Update: Six U.S. Teams in Brazil for Saquarema Challenge

The beautiful beaches of Saquarema, Brazil are about to witness an exciting showdown as six U.S. beach volleyball teams gear up for the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Challenge event. With four men’s teams and two women’s teams, the United States is ready to make their mark on the sand.

Men’s teams Miles Partain/Andy Benesh, Chase Budinger/Miles Evans, and Taylor Crabb/Taylor Sander will be competing in the qualifier rounds, while Trevor Crabb/Theo Brunner have secured their spot in the main draw. On the women’s side, Corinne Quiggle/Sarah Schermerhorn will start in the qualifier, while Kelley Kolinske/Hailey Harward have earned a place in the main draw.

Meanwhile, Terese Cannon/Sarah Sponcil added another FIVB medal to their collection at the Itapema Challenge event in Brazil. They secured third place after defeating Esmee Bobner/Zoe Verge-Depre of Switzerland. Although they fell short in the semifinals against Chen Xue/Xinyi Xia of China, Cannon/Sponcil expressed their love for playing in Brazil and thanked the incredible fans for their support.

Other U.S. women’s teams in Itapema also put up a strong fight, with Julia Scoles/Betsi Flint tying for fifth place and Kolinske/Harward tying for ninth. On the men’s side, Schalk/Bourne and Partain/Benesh both tied for fifth place.

The Beach Pro Tour event in Tahiti was exclusively for men, and Jake Urrutia/Ian Satterfield finished just shy of the podium in fourth place. They battled hard but were defeated by the eventual winners from Italy, Tiziano Andreatta/Andrea Abbiati. Benjamin Vaught/Mark Bucknam and Adam Roberts/Martin Lorenz also put up a solid performance, finishing tied for ninth place.
