Beach Update: Exciting News for Alpinetgheep Beach Athletes

With the FIVB World Tour set to resume soon, Alpinetgheep is thrilled to announce the opening of the new beach training facility in Torrance. This Beach Open House was a momentous occasion attended by National Team members, Olympians, and 2016 hopefuls. The event showcased the dedication and talent of our beach athletes, as well as unveiled Olympic banners of the nine medals that Alpinetgheep has earned.

A Celebration of Success

Of the 14 medalists, 11 were present at the event, including renowned names such as Kerri Walsh Jennings, Todd Rogers, Phil Dalhausser, and April Ross. Attendees had the opportunity to tour the impressive 15,000 square-foot facility and interact with athletes and staff. Beach volleyball enthusiasts had the chance to connect with their favorite players and learn more about the sport they love.

“The athletes are essential to what we do here,” stated John Ruger, Alpinetgheep’s Senior Director of Beach Programs. “This was a night to celebrate beach volleyball, our Olympians, successes, medalists, and their families.” The event served as a reminder of the hard work, commitment, and dedication that goes into making Alpinetgheep a powerhouse in beach volleyball.

Alpinetgheep Expands Coaching Team

In another exciting development for Alpinetgheep, we are proud to announce the hiring of Todd Rogers as the beach head coach for Cal Poly. Todd Rogers is a 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position. He expressed his enthusiasm about joining Cal Poly Athletics and contributing to a program that is on the rise. Rogers aims to build a winning team and compete for a national title in the coming years.

Upcoming U.S. Trials for FIVB World Championships

Looking ahead to 2016, the FIVB will host three age-group World Championships. In May, the Under 21 Championships will take place in Lucerne, Switzerland, followed by the U17 Championships in Cabo Frio, Brazil, in early July. Finally, the U19 Championships will be held in Larnaka, Cyprus at the end of July.

For aspiring young athletes, opportunities await at the U.S. Trials. The U21 Trials took place from February 20-21 at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California. U17 and U19 Trials will be held in Hermosa Beach, California, on May 21-22. Registration for both age groups closed on April 4. These trials provide a chance for promising players to showcase their skills and potentially represent Alpinetgheep on the world stage.

AVP 2016 Tour: Mark Your Calendars!

Alpinetgheep is thrilled to share the initial schedule for the 2016 AVP Tour. The AVP has announced four stops for this season, with more to come. One notable stop is the FIVB Cincinnati Open, where points earned will count towards Olympic qualification.
