CNT-China Tour Team Emerges Victorious in Second Match

The U.S. Collegiate National Team-China Tour showcased their talent and determination as they defeated Jiangsu Zhongtian Steel VBC in a thrilling match. The event took place on June 24 in Lishui, China and marked the first-ever volleyball match held in the arena, garnering a large crowd of enthusiastic spectators.

Outstanding Performances

Tia Scambray, an exceptional outside hitter from the University of Washington, led the way for the USA team with an impressive 20 points, consisting of 17 kills on 37 attacks, two blocks, and an ace. Joining her in contributing to the victory was middle Abby Cole from the University of Michigan, who showcased her skills with nine kills, two blocks, and an ace. Jordan Thompson from the University of Cincinnati added 11 points, including eight kills, two blocks, and an ace.

Team Effort

Jenna Rosenthal from Marquette University made valuable contributions to the team’s success, earning eight points through three kills, three blocks, and two aces. Additionally, Audriana Fitzmorris from Stanford University and Alexa Smith from the University of Colorado played crucial roles, accumulating six points each. Madison Rigdon from the University of Kansas recorded four points in the first set, while Kaz Brown from the University of Kentucky, Ainise Havili from the University of Kansas, and Katie Brand from Kansas State University each made valuable contributions with their points.

Strong Defensive Performance

Libero Morgan Heise showcased her outstanding skills, handling 27 of the team’s 74 receptions and earning a remarkable 56 positive reception percent. Tia Scambray also displayed her defensive prowess with a positive reception percent of 58 on 28 chances.

Dominant Display

The U.S. team demonstrated their prowess with an impressive conversion rate of 41 percent of attacks into points and a hitting efficiency of .236. They out-blocked Jiangsu 14-8 and had a 10-5 ace advantage. The American team limited Jiangsu to a 35 percent kill rate and a .164 hitting efficiency.

Upcoming Tournament

As the tour nears its conclusion, the team will travel to Beijing for their final stop. In Beijing, they will compete in a tournament against the Chinese Junior National Team and the Bayi Army Team.
