COMMISSION:
This prestigious award recognizes individuals who have made remarkable contributions to their national volleyball federation, as well as the FIVB, leaving a lasting impact on the international stage through organizations involved in major World Volleyball Championship events. Notably, in 1990, the USA Volleyball Board of Directors expanded the scope of the award, broadening its reach to include the international community and renaming it the Distinguished Service Award to honor outstanding individuals and organizations from around the world.

To be eligible for this esteemed award, individuals must have demonstrated distinguished leadership on at least one of the following levels: Olympic Games, International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), international organizations supporting physically or mentally disabled athletes, or a Zonal Confederation or National Federation. Additionally, nominees must have provided direct and internationally impactful service to the sport of volleyball. It’s important to note that individuals nominated for this award do not need to be registered with USA Volleyball or any of its member organizations, nor do they have to be citizens or members of any organization within the United States. Former recipients are not eligible for consideration.
