Jumplete Takes the Crown in the Competitive 18 Open Division at the 2023 BJNC

Jumplete 18-1, a Canadian team, emerged victorious in the fiercely competitive 18 Open division at the 2023 Boys Junior National Championship held in Salt Lake City, Utah. Despite each team in the division suffering at least three losses, Jumplete managed to secure crucial wins that ultimately led them to the title.

In the final, Team Colorado defeated ProPlay 18 Henry from Southern California, winning with scores of 25-18 and 25-22.

Lakas’ head coach, Jerico Abanico, expressed his excitement, stating, “It’s the first time we’re taking a national championship home, so it’s a great feeling. We’re one of the shortest teams in our area, so just coming from where we’re at, first one to take it home to Union City, California, so just really, really happy about this.”

Hype 181B from North Country and NSSC Boys 18 Black from Gateway claimed the third-place spots in this division.

18 Club Division

Molten 18 BJ from Arizona overcame an initial loss to Pilipa’a 18 from Moku O Keawe and went on to secure the 18 Club title. In the final, Molten defeated APEX 18A1 Black from Southern California, winning with scores of 25-22 and 25-15.

Molten’s head coach, Brian Hiapo Jr., expressed his pride in his team’s performance, stating, “Every single practice, all we practice for is to win this national championship. I’m so proud of these boys; they executed everything perfectly.”

AZ Summit 18 Gold from Arizona and Pilipa’a secured the third-place spots in this division.
