May-Treanor, Scott-Arruda Elected to International Volleyball Hall of Fame

The International Volleyball Hall of Fame has announced the induction of five legendary volleyball players into its Class of 2016. This prestigious honor will be bestowed upon them on October 22 in Holyoke, Massachusetts, the birthplace of the sport. The Class of 2016 includes male indoor volleyball player Nikola Grbic from Serbia, female indoor volleyball player Danielle Scott-Arruda from the United States, beach players Misty May-Treanor from the United States and Emanuel Rego from Brazil, and coach Man-Bok Park from South Korea.

One notable aspect of Misty May-Treanor and Danielle Scott-Arruda is their exceptional longevity in the sport. Their talent, commitment, and impact on the history of volleyball are evident in their remarkable achievements. Misty May-Treanor’s unprecedented feat of winning three consecutive Olympic gold medals speaks volumes about her talent and dedication to the sport. Danielle Scott-Arruda’s five Olympic appearances, a rare accomplishment, showcase her commitment and dominance in the sport.

The induction class is elected by past International Volleyball Hall of Fame inductees, representing 22 different countries. This year’s class maintains the highest qualities of the game and serves as true icons of the sport for the next generation of athletes.

The induction festivities, presented by Spalding, will include a Mayor’s reception on Friday, October 21, at Wistariahurst Museum in Holyoke, followed by the Ring and Plaque Ceremony inside the Volleyball Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 22. The formal Enshrinement Dinner and Ceremony will take place that evening after the Mizuno Meet & Greet.
