The 2023 USA Volleyball Beach Collegiate National Team has been announced, featuring nine women and ten men. This team is a part of the National Team Development Program (NTDP) and will undergo training from June 11-17 at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in California.
Women’s Team
The women’s team consists of Peri Brennan (UCLA), Alli Hansen (Grand Canyon), Xolani Hodel (Stanford), Paige Kalkhoff (Florida State), Chloe Loreen (Washington), Delaynie Maple (Southern California), Nicole Nourse (Southern California), Audrey Nourse (Southern California), and Ashley Vincent (Stanford). Some of these players have international experience, with Maple winning the 2021 U19 Beach World Championship and Hodel placing fourth in the same event. The Nourse sisters have also competed on the FIVB World Tour.

Co-head coaches Angie Akers and April Ross will guide the women’s team. Akers, currently an assistant coach at Loyola Marymount, coached Ross and partner Alix Klineman to Olympic gold in Tokyo. Ross herself has participated in three Olympics, earning gold, silver, and bronze medals.
Men’s Team

On the men’s side, the team comprises Ben Braun (Ohio State), Kupono Browne (BYU), Nato Dickinson (Long Beach State), Matthew Edwards (UCLA), Jackson Hickman (Grand Canyon), Heath Hughes (BYU), Thomas Hurst, Kyle Paulson (Southern California), Sebastian Rodriguez (Long Beach State), and Ryan Smith (Vanguard). Hughes, Rodriguez, and Smith have previous international experience, having competed at the 2022 World University Championships.
The men’s team will be led by head coach Dan Friend, the men’s volleyball head coach at Lewis University, assisted by University of Washington beach assistant coach Steve McFadden.
