The USA Volleyball Beach Collegiate Challenge held in Manhattan Beach, Calif., showcased the top NCAA teams in a thrilling battle for supremacy. The event saw the undefeated No. 1 ranked team, USC, emerge victorious after going 3-0 on April 8. Joining them were No. 15 Arizona State, Loyola Marymount, and Saint Mary’s, all of whom put up a valiant fight during the competition.
One of the biggest highlights of the tournament was the stunning upset by Saint Mary’s sophomore duo, Payton Rund and Lindsey Knudsen. They defeated the formidable USC seniors, Kelly Claes and Sara Hughes, in a thrilling match that ended 13-21, 21-18, 17-15. Prior to this defeat, Claes and Hughes had an impressive 103-match winning streak.

The competition showcased the immense talent of each team, all of which are contenders in the Top 15 rankings. As the regular season draws to a close in April, attention now turns towards the upcoming post-season appearances. The NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship, scheduled for May 5-7, will feature eight teams competing in a double elimination tournament. Following this, USA Volleyball will host the Collegiate Beach Championships from May 11-13, inviting pairs from the eight qualifying teams and additional schools to compete for a pair title.
