The U.S. Women’s National Team recently had an exciting opportunity to connect with the next generation of volleyball stars during the USA Volleyball Girls 18s Junior National Championships (GJNC18) at the Anaheim Convention Center. As the official host city for both the U.S. Women’s and Men’s National Teams, Anaheim has been a fitting location for their training.

During the GJNC18, the U.S. Women’s National Team moved their practice session from the American Sports Centers to the Anaheim Convention Center, allowing more players participating in the championships to watch and learn from them. The training session was followed by a 30-minute autograph session, creating a great environment for everyone involved.

Carli Lloyd, a setter for the U.S. Women’s National Team, expressed her excitement about playing in front of aspiring players who are looking to reach higher levels in their volleyball careers. The stands were filled, and the atmosphere was electric. The training session brought back memories of the players’ own club days and even reunited them with some of their former coaches.
The main objective of the training session, however, was to connect with the current club players who are on the cusp of beginning their college journeys. Players from Minnesota One, competing in the 18 Patriot Division, were particularly thrilled to watch the National Team players during a break from their own matches. Having the chance to see these high-level athletes up close was both inspiring and motivational for them.

Members of First Alliance 18 Black, competing in the 18 American Division, shared how cool it was to go through the autograph line after the training session. The experience left them feeling motivated and excited to continue pursuing their dreams. They also appreciated the opportunity to see hometown heroes like Kelly Murphy and Lauren Carlini representing the National Team on an international stage.
