U.S. Women Lose First Pan Am Cup Match

The U.S. Women’s Pan American Cup Team experienced a setback in their first match of the tournament, as they were defeated by the host country, the Dominican Republic, with a score of 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-13).

Despite a strong start in the first set, the U.S. Women’s team faced challenges as errors piled up and the Dominican Republic’s formidable performance overpowered them.

“The Dominican Republic is a very talented team,” commented U.S. Head Coach Karch Kiraly. “They outperformed us today, and things didn’t go as we had anticipated.”

Shelly Stafford, another middle blocker, scored with two kills and one block. Alex Holston, the backup opposite, secured one point with a kill.
