U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team-Europe Tour Roster Named

USA Volleyball is excited to announce the roster for the U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team Europe Tour (CNT-Europe). This team is made up of talented collegiate players who will train and compete in Europe from July 5-16.

Introducing the Talented Roster

The CNT-Europe roster includes exceptional players from universities across the United States. Among the middles selected for the elite squad are Corissa Crocker (University of Michigan, Brighton, Michigan), Claire Kiefer-Wright (University of Michigan, South Pasadena, California), and Jenna Rosenthal (Marquette University, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin). The outside hitters named to the roster are Symone Abbott (Northwestern University, Northville, Michigan), Courtney Schwan (University of Washington, Auburn, Washington), Carlyle Nusbaum (Lipscomb University, Overland Park, Kansas), and Jaali Winters (Creighton University, Ankeny, Iowa). Kelsie Payne (University of Kansas, Austin, Texas) and Taylor Mims (Washington State University, Billings, Montana) will serve as the two opposites, while Kristen Gengenbacher (University of San Diego, Quincy, Illinois) and Taira Robins-Hardy (Brigham Young University, Waimanalo, Hawaii) will take on the role of setters. The team’s libero will be Jesse Earl (Auburn University, Indianapolis, Indiana).

Coaching Staff

Led by head coach Molly Alvey from the University of Cincinnati, the CNT-Europe squad is in excellent hands. Assisting Coach Alvey is Nicki Holmes, the assistant coach at North Carolina State University.

Competition and Training

The CNT-Europe squad, which is one of three teams within the U.S. Collegiate National Team program, will participate in the 13th Annual European Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia from July 11-14. Prior to this competition, the team will have training sessions and friendly matches in Europe. Tentatively, the team is scheduled to train in Maribor, Slovenia, and will have the opportunity to play against various National Teams.

Player Experience

Four players on the CNT-Europe roster have previous experience with the U.S. Collegiate National Team program. Jenna Rosenthal and Courtney Schwan were members of the 2016 CNT-China Tour roster, while Kristen Gengenbacher and Jaali Winters participated in the 2016 CNT-Indianapolis program. Additionally, Kelsie Payne was a member of the U.S. Women’s National Team last summer, competing in the Pan American Cup.

The Selection Process

The athletes on the roster were selected through the U.S. Women’s National Team Open Tryouts, which took place from March 3-5 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
