Women’s Sitting Team Hosts Canada at Colorado Crossroads

The U.S. Women’s Sitting Volleyball Team is excited to announce their participation in the Colorado Crossroads Junior National Qualifier from March 4-6. This year, the team has something special planned for their fans.

After achieving remarkable success in previous Paralympic Games, including silver medals in 2008 and 2012 and a bronze in 2004, Team USA made history by winning their first-ever Paralympic gold medal in the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games. They defeated China 3-0 in the final, putting an end to China’s gold-medal streak since the introduction of women’s sitting volleyball in 2004.

Currently ranked number one in the World ParaVolley world rankings, the U.S. Women’s Sitting Team will be facing off against Canada, ranked ninth, in a five-match exhibition series at the Colorado Convention Center as part of the Colorado Crossroads event. The matches will take place on March 4 and 5 at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. MT, with the final match on March 6 at 9 a.m. MT.

In recognition of their outstanding performance, the U.S. Women’s Sitting Team was awarded the title of “Best Paralympic Team” at the Team USA Awards ceremony in September 2016. Having finished the year with a 21-3 record, their only loss came against China during the Paralympic Games pool play. The team also claimed victory at the 2016 World ParaVolley Intercontinental Cup in China and the Dutch Tournament in July.
