Boys Youth Training Team: Unleashing Talent and Experience

USA Volleyball High Performance proudly announces the selection of the Boys Youth National Training Team, comprising 24 exceptional players. These young athletes will undergo rigorous training, with the top 12 players eventually representing the team at the highly anticipated 2019 FIVB Under-19 World Championship in Tunisia from August 21-30.

It’s worth noting that all 12 players from the 2018 Boys Youth National Team, who secured second place at the NORCECA U19 Championship and qualified for the World Championship, are part of the training team. The team boasts a lineup of talented individuals, including outside hitters Joe Deluzio, James Hartley, Alex Knight, and Akhil Tangutur, as well as middle blockers Nathanial Gates, Ethan Hill, and Ethan Smith, and more.

Building a Strong Foundation

The training team is not limited to the previous year’s national team members. It has expanded to include new talent, such as outside hitters Luke Benson, Klistan Lawrence, Sebastian Rodriguez, and Francesco Sani, middle blockers Gavin Julien, Gavin Leising, and Rico Wardlow, and other promising players. The team will undergo intensive training at the USAV High Performance Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from July 13-22.

Experience Meets Expertise

The Boys Youth National Training Team will be led by Pepperdine Men’s Volleyball Head Coach, David Hunt, who brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team. Assisting him will be Nick MacRae from Long Beach State and Colin McMillan from Penn State. Throughout the training, Kevin Burch from Ohio State will provide valuable guidance, while Mitch Lush from Ohio State will assume the role of technical coordinator for the World Championship.
