2021 USA Volleyball Boys Junior National Championship (BJNC)

The USA Volleyball Boys Junior National Championships is an exciting event that offers three competitive divisions: Open, USA, and Club. While the Open and USA Divisions require teams to qualify in order to participate, the Club Division is open to all teams without the need for qualification.

Open and USA Classification

The Open and USA Divisions of the BJNC aim to provide the highest level of competition for boys. Open competition is available in the 18, 17, 16, 15, and 14 age divisions, with a field size ranging from sixteen (16) to thirty-six (36) teams. USA competition is offered in the 18, 17, 16, and 14 age divisions, with a field size ranging from sixteen (16) to thirty-six (36) teams for 18 and 16, and thirty-two (32) for 17 and 14.

To determine which teams qualify for the Open and USA Divisions, bid tournaments are organized by the USAV Events Department in collaboration with the Junior Assembly. These tournaments provide bids to the BJNC for teams competing in the Open and USA Divisions.

At-large teams, on the other hand, are selected by the Boys Competition Committee, with oversight from the USA Events Department. The selection criteria for at-large teams include factors such as strength, record against qualified teams, record against at-large applicants, past year’s BJNC finish of the rostered players, and date of entry.

It’s important to note that Hawaii and Puerto Rico are awarded one bid each for the 14 and 15 & under age divisions in the Open Division(s). These bids can be obtained through a tournament or an application process specific to each territory. Other teams interested in a bid for these divisions must attend a bid tournament and apply for an at-large bid if necessary.
