Girls U19 Athletes Stepping Up for 2023 Women’s U21 Worlds

USA Volleyball has chosen a talented group of athletes to represent the country at the 2023 FIVB Women’s U21 World Championship. Taking place in Aguascalientes and Lèon, Mexico from August 17-26, this prestigious event will showcase the next generation of volleyball stars.

If these names sound familiar, it’s because many of these athletes recently trained as part of the 2023 Girls U19 National Team and are currently competing at the Girls U19 World Championship. Due to the scheduling conflict with the NCAA women’s volleyball season, USA Volleyball has turned to their accomplished U19 athletes to fill the roster for the U21 World Championship.

The team is led by head coach Tom Hogan, the LOVB Director of Sport and former assistant coach of the U.S. Women’s National Team. Hogan, alongside Olympic medalist Stacy Sykora and assistant coach Lauren Plum, aims to provide these young players with the invaluable opportunity to compete against professional athletes and national team members from around the world.

The U.S. Women’s U21 Team will face tough competition from 16 other teams in the World Championship, including Cuba, Türkiye, and Netherlands in pool play. As they strive for their first medal in the Women’s U21 World Championship, these athletes are ready to embrace the challenge and showcase their skills on the international stage.
