Host Cities for 2020 GJNC, BJNC, Opens Announced

USA Volleyball is excited to reveal the host cities for its upcoming national championships in 2020. Dallas, Minneapolis, and Reno, Nevada, have been selected to host three of the organization’s prestigious events.

Dallas – Host of GJNC

The 2020 USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships (GJNC) will take place in Dallas from June 25th to July 4th at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. This will be the fourth time that Dallas has hosted the GJNC, with previous events held in 1998, 2008, and 2013.

The GJNC is expected to attract around 1,320 teams and 13,500 athletes, along with their families. The championships will feature age divisions ranging from 11-and-under to 17-and-under, with 27 championship brackets.

Reno, Nevada – Host of BJNC

Reno will serve as the host city for the 2020 USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships (BJNC), which will take place from June 27th to July 4th at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. This will be the third time that Reno has hosted the BJNC, with previous events held in 2000 and 2013.

The BJNC is expected to welcome nearly 550 teams and 6,000 athletes to Reno in 2020. A total of 15 championships will be contested across age groups from 12-and-under to 18-and-under.

Minneapolis – Host of Opens

Minneapolis will host the 2020 USA Volleyball Open National Championships (Opens) from May 22nd to 27th at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The Opens, which have been held annually since 1928 (excluding two years during World War II), will be in their 91st edition when they return to Minneapolis in 2020.

The Opens typically draw over 500 teams and 6,000-plus players, ranging in age from 18 to 80-plus. The event is known for its diverse age divisions, including the Men’s 79-and-Over bracket.

This marks the ninth time since 2003 that Minneapolis has hosted USA Volleyball events, both nationally and internationally. The city has previously hosted the Opens in 1945, 2003, 2009, and 2017, as well as the Girls’ Junior National Championships in 2007, 2014, and 2017.
