Men’s Junior Team Competes at NORCECA Tournament

The U.S. Men’s Junior National Team is excited to participate in the upcoming NORCECA Under-21 Continental Championship. This highly anticipated tournament, taking place in Gatineau, Canada from July 5th to July 10th, serves as a qualifier for the prestigious 2017 FIVB U21 World Championship in Brno, Czech Republic.

Pool Play and Format

In the pool stage of the tournament, our team will face formidable opponents from Barbados and St. Vincent on July 5th and July 7th, respectively. The other pool consists of Canada, Cuba, Guatemala, and Trinidad & Tobago. The quarterfinal matches will be held on July 8th, followed by the semifinals on July 9th, and the final matches on July 10th.

Team Roster

Our Men’s Junior Team boasts exceptional talent in all positions. The outside hitters include Reese Devilbiss, Austin Matautia, and Dylan Missry, while Kyle Ensing and Michael Wexter shine as opposite hitters. George Huhmann, Scott Stadick, and Jack Cole showcase their expertise as middle blockers, and Josh Tuaniga and Joe Worsley are the skilled setters. Matt Douglas anchors the defense as libero.

Past Achievements

Having previously clinched gold at the NORCECA Championship in 2010 and 2012, the U.S. Men’s Junior Team settled for bronze in 2014. This year, the team is determined to surpass previous accomplishments and claim the top spot. Several players, including Tuaniga, Ewert, Stadick, and Worsley, were part of the victorious 2014 Boys’ Youth National Team that secured the NORCECA U19 Championship. Huhmann, Ensing, Wexter, and Devilbiss joined them in representing the 2015 Boys’ Youth National Team, which finished seventh in the FIVB U19 World Championships.
