Men’s Update: Five Questions for Jeff Jendryk

A new Olympic quadrennial brings new players into the spotlight for the U.S. Men’s National Team as it looks forward to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Middle blocker Jeff Jendryk, 21, of Wheaton, Ill., is in his junior season at Loyola, but has already competed on two U.S. Men’s Pan American Cup teams (2015 and ’16). He was also on the U.S. Men’s Junior National Team in 2014 and ’15. In 2015, he was named the AVCA Newcomer of the Year while also winning the NCAA Men’s Division I Volleyball Championship with the Ramblers.

Q: What were your thoughts as you watched the 2016 Olympic tournament?

Watching the Olympics was an incredible experience for Jeff Jendryk. Seeing his former Loyola teammate Thomas Jaeschke represent Team USA filled him with excitement and gratitude. Jaeschke had a significant impact on Jendryk, inspiring him to strive for his own opportunity to make the Olympic Team in the future. The intensity and determination displayed by the USA team on the court served as motivation for Jendryk to continue improving his skills.
