U.S. Men’s Volleyball Team Announces Preliminary Roster for VNL

The U.S. Men’s National Team has revealed its 25-man roster for the upcoming 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League, showcasing a talented mix of experienced players and promising rookies. Coaches will have the flexibility to select 14 players from this roster to compete in both the preliminary matches and the final round of the VNL.

The United States will have the advantage of hosting the VNL Final Round in Chicago on July 10-14, guaranteeing their automatic qualification. This means that the team can approach the five-week preliminary round with some ease and experiment with new player combinations without feeling the pressure to secure qualification.

Among the roster are nine players who were part of the 2016 Olympic Team, including two-time Olympians Matt Anderson and David Smith. These veterans will bring their expertise to the court, along with their Olympic teammates Taylor Sander, Aaron Russell, Thomas Jaeschke, Max Holt, Micah Christenson, Kawika Shoji, and Erik Shoji.

The U.S. Men’s National Team won bronze in the 2018 VNL Final Round, and eight of the Olympic players from that team will be aiming for another strong performance in this year’s competition. Joining them are Jeff Jendryk, Dan McDonnell, Ben Patch, Kyle Ensing, T.J. DeFalco, and libero Dustin Watten.
