USAV HP Academy: A Unique Opportunity for Athletes and Coaches

The USA Volleyball High Performance Academy welcomes new students, providing a unique opportunity to learn from top athletes, coaches, and experts in the sport. Created as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the academy offers webinars and online courses conducted by U.S. National Team athletes, coaches, and staff.

In addition to learning from volleyball professionals, participants can also benefit from the expertise of nutritionists, recovery specialists, leadership trainers, and mindfulness experts. This comprehensive program aims to engage and educate athletes, coaches, and their families during this time away from the court.

USAV Chief of Sport Peter Vint shared, “We wanted to create a program that would provide engaging and useful information, allowing individuals to continue their learning journey even when they can’t physically be on the court. We are confident that our program, led by some of the best minds in volleyball and high-performance training, fulfills this goal.”

The postponement of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games provided an opportunity for USAV to involve some of their top athletes, coaches, and experts with the HP Academy. U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach Karch Kiraly expressed, “We’ve all had to make significant adjustments due to COVID-19, impacting players and coaches at all levels. However, this is an opportunity for us to use our time effectively, fostering learning, sharing information, and staying engaged. I am honored to be a part of this inaugural venture and excited to see its development over the years.”

Topics covered in the academy include offensive and defensive tactics, systems and concepts, as well as blocking, serving, attacking, and passing strategies. Additionally, participants can access sessions on leadership, sleep, nutrition, and returning to play after the pandemic.

With 819 athletes and 156 coaches already registered for the four-week academy, which began on July 7th and costs $120, there is still time to join and benefit from the program. Participants can view completed sessions on-demand, ensuring maximum flexibility.
