USAV Selects Collegiate National Team-Japan Roster

USA Volleyball is excited to announce the selection of the 12-player U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team – Japan Tour roster, which consists of current collegiate players. This talented squad will embark on a tour of Japan from May 19-30, where they will participate in training sessions and matches against some of the best collegiate volleyball teams in Japan.

The tour is set to feature matches against Nippon Sport Science University, Japan’s Women’s U20 Team, and Japan’s World University Games Team. The schedule includes games held in Tokyo, Kawasaki, and Okayama.

Heather Olmstead, head coach of the Brigham Young University women’s volleyball team, will lead the CNT-Japan Tour as the head coach. Olmstead expressed her excitement about representing the USA alongside 12 talented student-athletes from across the country. She emphasized that the roster is filled with experienced and skilled players who are eager to compete at a high level and immerse themselves in the Japanese culture.

The coaching staff for the tour includes assistant coaches Jaylen Reyes from the University of Nebraska and Krista Vansant from Indiana University. TJ Read, the director of volleyball operations at UCF, will serve as the program’s technical coordinator.

The selection process for the CNT-Japan Tour roster was conducted through the U.S. Women’s National Team Open Tryouts held in March at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

It is worth noting that the CNT-Japan Tour roster features standout players such as Jacqueline Quade, Taylor Bannister, and Mica Allison. Quade and Heather Gneiting also helped lead their collegiate teams to the semifinals of the 2018 NCAA Division I Collegiate Volleyball Championship.

Congratulations to all the selected athletes and the coaching staff. We wish them the best of luck as they represent the USA in Japan and engage in thrilling competitions against top Japanese collegiate teams.
