USA Volleyball is making a significant commitment to Beach ParaVolley (Standing), a relatively new discipline that could see more Team USA athletes competing at the Paralympic Games. The USA Volleyball Board of Directors has confirmed its designation as the official national federation for Beach ParaVolley. This move comes as World ParaVolley (WPV), the international federation for Paralympic volleyball, works with the International Paralympic Committee to include Beach ParaVolley in the Paralympic Games by the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics.
Since 2007, Beach ParaVolley has gained popularity in Asia/Oceania, where teams have been competing regularly. The Paralympic classification system promotes inclusivity in the sport, allowing for a maximum of one Classification A athlete (most physically able). Aside from that, Beach ParaVolley largely follows the standard FIVB Beach Volleyball rules.
