WNT Update: Cook, Plummer Win Club World Championship with Conegliano

Italy’s Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano, led by U.S. outside hitters Kelsey Cook and Kathryn Plummer, emerged victorious in the Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship 2022. They clinched the title with a 3-1 victory (25-18, 23-25, 25-21, 25-21) over Turkiyë’s VakifBank Spor Kulubu in the final held in Antalya, Turkiyë. This win marked Conegliano’s second gold in the competition, having previously triumphed in 2019. The previous year, VakifBank, with U.S. outside hitter Michelle Bartsch-Hackley and middle blockers Chiaka Ogbogu and Kara Bajema, emerged victorious in a hard-fought five-set battle against Conegliano.

In the final match, Plummer registered a total of 12 points, including 10 kills, one block, and one ace. She also showcased her defensive skills with 10 successful receptions. Cook contributed 10 points, consisting of seven kills, two blocks, and one ace, while also making 11 successful receptions. On the opposing side, Ogbogu scored five points with four kills and one block, while Bajema made two kills as a substitute.
